On Friday, November 16, 2007, Pascual Laboratories launched its Health 4 Humanity (Kalusugan HabangBuhay) Program in partnership with Habitat for Humanity.

This health awareness and support program is meant to complement Habitat’s “Bagong Bahay, Bagong Buhay” initiative.

After securing a roof over their heads through this successful effort, home partner families will now have an answer to their next basic concern: health and well-being.

For years, Habitat has provided Filipino families with their long-awaited home they can own, where their children can establish their roots. Home partners contribute sweat equity plus a manageable pay–back scheme to secure the title of the land they are awarded, including the house they help build together with volunteers.

Once settled, the home partners find a stable means of LIVELIHOOD, reassured that they have a house they can call home.

One of the frequent challenges faced by families, however, is the question of health. Breadwinners need to stay fit and in good shape in order to earn a living. Mothers have to be healthy to be able to look after the children, and the children’s welfare is always a primary consideration for home partners’ peace of mind.

Pascual Laboratories has found this timely opportunity to fill in the health gap by developing a “Health for Humanity” program. “It’s Kalusugan HabangBuhay,” says Mia Pascual, Director for Design Services and Corporate Communications at Pascuallab. “My father and his parents, Isosceles and Leonora, who founded Pascuallab, have always espoused the importance of good health in living a full and happy life. We are more than happy to provide affordably-priced, tried-and-tested vitamin supplements and health solutions that answer the need of Filipino families. Our collaboration with Habitat gives us a direct hand at making health accessible to thousands of Habitat home partner families,’ Mia adds.

The Pascual family and Management, along with actresses Lucy Torres–Gomez and Rhian Ramos, participated in a medical mission for the families settled at Baseco Bagong Buhay Village, Port Area, Manila. To underscore the health theme, the day started with a robust aerobics warm–up conducted by Winnie Lim.

Margie Floirendo, the active advocate behind Friends of Habitat, graced the family gathering as well to present the home partners with the Pascuallab program. The details of the “Kalusugan HabangBuhay” were presented by Mia Pascual, emphasizing the purpose of their participation.
