History
1940's POST – WAR PHILIPPINES
The Philippines was devastated by World War II; Filipinos were in need of medicine.
- 1946 – Birth of Pascual Laboratories
- Husband and Wife team of Isosceles and Leonora Pascual, both graduates of Chemistry in the University of the Philippines, established Pascual Laboratories in a single room facility in their home in Balut, Tondo.
- The main products that they developed were for the treatment of Tuberculosis and vitamin deficiency
1950's GROWING THE BUSINESS
- 1954 – Modernization of the Plant
- The product portfolio was expanded to include antibiotics and cardio – vascular medicines.
1960's SUSTAINING THE GROWTH
- Strategic partnerships were formed with foreign – based principals
- Pascual Laboratories changed from a single proprietorship to a corporation
- Marketing divisions were formed: sales, promotions, distributions
- Product Research and Development Division was strengthened
1970's TIME OF CRISIS (Martial Law)
- Facilities were transferred: manufacturing plant from Tondo to Bulacan, Head office was moved to EDSA
- Marketing and distribution of Pascuallab products was devolved to Pharex
- Pascuallab began pursuing licensing agreements
1980's DAWN OF A NEW DAY
- Major Reorganization: Metro Drug was assigned as Product Distributor; Pharex was appointed to market Pascuallab generic products
- Consumer Products Division was established
1990's MAJOR CHANGE INITIATIVES
- Start of tremendous growth for consumer health through use of media ads and product endorsers
- 1995 – Herbal medicines became a major thrust for the company. Altermed Corporation was established
- Pascuallab received DOST – PCHRD Licensing to manufacture and market ASCOF (Lagundi) and RELEAF (Sambong)
- 1997 – Pascuallab's pioneering herbal products, ASCOF (Lagundi) and RELEAF (Sambong) are awarded Silver Medals at the 25 th International Exhibition of Inventions, New Techniques and Products held in Geneva, Switzerland.
- 1997 – DOTI chooses Pascuallab as a Golden Shell Rising Star Awardee
- PLI Plant was modernized and expanded: received GMP certification
- 1999 – A 2nd Generation Pascual member, Dr. Abraham Pascual was appointed as President – CEO of Pascual Laboratories
2000 Highlights
- Dr. Abraham Pascual led an aggressive thrust:
Plant quality control and production capabilities were upgraded
- More aggressive and focused OTC promotions
- Pascuallab began releasing more media ads and made use of product endorsers
- Plant modernization and expansion: new solid dosage building and facilities, purchase of more modern plant equipment
- Pharex established a strong presence in Generics Market
- Pharex invested in more media institutional ads
- MD focused promotions
- Zuellig became exclusive product distributor for PLI
- Pascuallab became ISO9001: 2000 Certified
- Pascuallab acquired Propan brand from Aventis
- 2000 – Pascuallab Chairman Dr. Abraham F. Pascual receives the Agora Award for Marketing Excellence in Large – scale entrepreneurships
- Pascuallab acquired C – Lium Fibre from Garsworth Marketing
